Dean Colls

Dean Colls was born in the rural town of Kerang in Northern Victoria in 1968 and now lives and works in Melbourne, Victoria. He commenced a traineeship in sculpture and puppet making with Ron Mueck before working as a freelance sculptor and costume/set designer for film and television. Since 1997, Colls has worked alongside Louise Skačej as a co-director of Aludean Sculpture – a Melbourne based studio that manufactures and designs commissioned abstract, representational and figurative artworks.

Colls work examines Australian culture and the human experience in relation to the natural sciences. His fascination with origami and the aesthetics of early computer generated imagery also informs his practice.

McClelland acknowledges the Bunurong / Boon Wurrung people of the South-Eastern Kulin Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waters on which we are placed.

We are a safe, welcoming space for all people.

As a not-for-profit organisation, McClelland relies largely on the support of visitors through entry fees and donations to help conserve and build the collection, curate inspiring exhibitions and public programs, and care for the beautiful sculpture park and bushland setting for all to enjoy.
