Walks

  • The Elisabeth Murdoch Walk

The Elisabeth Murdoch walk provides a special opportunity for you to be part of acknowledging the lifetime contribution of Dame Elisabeth Murdoch AC DBE to the cultural life of Australia and our Gallery in its developing role as the national focus for sculpture.

Dame Elisabeth Murdoch AC DBE (1909-2012) was an active supporter, Trustee and Governor of McClelland since its inception in 1971. She contributed tremendously to the development and enjoyment of sculpture in Australia.

The Elisabeth Murdoch walk is a way of honouring this contribution. The pathway links iconic sculptures within the diversity of our landscaped bush setting.

  • The Belcher Family Lake Walk

The Belcher Family Lake Walk was opened in March 2023 to commemorate the lives of the late Tamie Belcher and Eric Belcher, who were frequent visitors to McClelland.

The Belcher family contributed generously to the creation of new a scenic pathway around the McClelland Lake. What was previously a rough and sometimes impassable track is now a pleasant walk adding to visitors’ appreciation of the sculptures, waterbirds and vistas.

McClelland remains a favourite place for the continuing generations of the Belcher family. It is through generosity such as theirs which has helped beautify the McClelland lake region for generations to come.
