FAQs
Are dogs allowed?
Yes, dogs are welcome in our outdoor areas as long as they stay on lead and are accompanied for their entire visit. Please bring supplies to pick up after them.
Do I need to pay if I am here to just walk my dog?
Absolutely! You're very welcome to enjoy a walk with your dog at McClelland, but please note that standard entry fees still apply, even if you're just here for a stroll. We love seeing visitors explore the sculpture park with their furry friends (on-leash, of course!), and your entry helps us care for the grounds and keep McClelland open for everyone to enjoy. If you're a Frankston local, you can visit for free on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays with ID. Or, if you book ahead at Harry’s cafe, your entry is free too, even if it’s just for a coffee!
Can I ride a bicycle in the sculpture park?
No, to reduce the risk of damage to our sculptures and other visitors we ask that you do not ride around the park.
Is there a playground for children?
No, to protect our sculptures we ask that visitors do not touch or climb on them. Please supervise your children while in the park and gallery spaces.
Is Harry's Cafe open?
Yes, Harry's Cafe is open from Wednesday to Sunday, 10am – 4pm. For more information about the cafe menu and to book a table for your group, visit the cafe page.
Do I need to pay if I buy a coffee at Harry’s?
Great question! If you make a booking at Harry’s cafe before you arrive, your entry to McClelland is free. So yes - buying a coffee counts, as long as you’ve booked ahead. Just show your cafe booking confirmation when you arrive.
Is alcohol permitted in the park?
Alcoholic beverages are available at the Harry's cafe and can be consumed while picnicking in the park. Strictly no BYO alcohol.
Are BBQs allowed in the park while picnicking?
McClelland has a no fire policy; therefore, BBQs are strictly prohibited on the grounds as well as cigarettes. Please respect our bushland environment and keep our visitors, park, and buildings safe from fire.
Are guided tours available for the public?
Free guided tours of the sculpture park are available every Wednesday and Thursday at 11am and 2pm. Please enquire at the gallery reception to join a tour.
Can I smoke or vape?
No, neither smoking nor vaping is permitted on the property. Please take this into consideration when planning your visit.
I thought McClelland was government funded?
That’s a common misconception. We’re actually an arts charity. While we do receive some grants, most of our funding comes from visitors, the cafe, store, and generous donors.
Why should I pay to visit a park?
Your entry fee gives you access to over 100 outdoor iconic Australian sculptures, two indoor galleries, free parking, and helps us maintain the grounds and exhibitions. It’s more than a park; it’s a cultural experience.
How can I help more?
Thank you! You can support us by donating to us, over $2 is a tax deductible, visiting often, spreading the word, or even writing to your local MPs and council members to advocate for arts funding. Every bit helps.
