Erwin Fabian

Shore

2015

Subtly hinting at figurative sculpture, Erwin Fabian’s Shore, 2015, comprises three vertically stacked zones. Fabian tended towards vertical composition in many of his larger sculptures, creating balanced structures with upward emphasis. This perilous practice of balancing, welding, and setting the repurposed materials into vertical assemblages, reveals the intimate familiarity and trust held by Fabian for his materials, as well as the profound importance of play in his practice.
