McClelland Birthday Cake Baking Competition
Sunday 13 October 2024
In celebration of Frankie the Gnome’s first birthday at McClelland on October 13 we are searching for the best home baked birthday cake.
We have gathered three creative cake minds who are very excited to see what you bring to the plate!
Whilst this is a competition, participation and enjoyment should be the main motivators to join in.
Cakes will be judged on their flavour, texture and general appearance.
Judges
Louie Digby – Digby Cakes
Amy Minichiello – A Mini Kitchen
Noel Black – McClelland Head Chef
Louie Digby – Digby Cakes @digbycakes
Digby Cakes has evolved from Louie’s love of baking, entertaining and learning. She loves designs that are different, wow-factor and that make people feel special.
Louie believes they're not only delicious, beautiful and fun, but they also bring people together.
Amy Minichiello – A Mini Kitchen @amy_minichiello_
Amy is a self-taught cook, Baker of cakes, storyteller and memory maker. She believes that food memories are at the very centre of our hearts and that through storytelling and in conversation they have the power to transport us, creating a ripple effect of emotion. Her first cookbook, Recipes in the Mail, was published last year.
Noel Black – McClelland Head Chef
Noel began his career with an apprenticeship in Calgary, Canada. Loving the snow - he moved to the mountains for a couple of seasons at Heather Mountain Lodge in Golden, BC to heli-ski and learn great regional cuisine from accomplished Canadian chef Dan Brako. Hyatt Regency Calgary came next before deciding to move Down Under for a working holiday – and he never left. Noel worked for Grand Hyatt Melbourne for seven years, predominantly in events, before making the move to Frankston.
