The majority of Angelina George’s work made between 2004 and 2013 brought to life the mountains of her Ngyameratjara Country south of the Roper River. My imagined country – rock face, 2006, has a rough gestural quality that highlights the materiality of the landscape, and an ambiguous sense of foreground and background which suggests an immersive and holistic experience of Country.
