Anna Farago
Soft Paintings (1-4)
2019

Anna Farago’s Soft Paintings offer a sentimental viewpoint of a time preceding our technology-driven world. These artworks draw inspiration from various periods, including the historical avant-garde abstraction and a treasured era defined by handmade craftmanship. Farago also delves into the theme of gender within this modern conceptual framework.
The compositions featured in her works are crafted using garments that hold personal significance, along with naturally dyed fabrics. Farago’s objective was to establish a direct connection with the surrounding environment at McClelland, extracting dyes from leaves and bark found within the sculpture park, as well as food waste obtained from the Harry's cafe.
