Makers in Focus Talk: Kaii Ross Baird

You’re invited to join us on Sunday 6 September, for a morning with our latest Maker in Focus: Kaii Ross Baird from the McClelland Spinners and Weavers Guild.

A self-taught maker with an endlessly curious mind, Kaii's creative journey has taken him from bookbinding and leatherwork using reclaimed materials to becoming one of the Guild's most prolific weavers. His practice combines craftsmanship, sustainability and innovation, drawing on mathematics, mechanics, geometry and colour to create beautifully woven textiles and original patterns.

Kaii will share the story behind his creative practice in an interactive artist talk, exploring how curiosity, experimentation and a passion for making have shaped his work. Following the talk, enjoy a live weaving demonstration, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and gain insight into his process.

This is also your chance to see Kaii's beautifully crafted woven works on display in the McClelland Design Store and meet the maker behind them.

Whether you're a maker, textile enthusiast or simply curious about traditional craft, this is a wonderful opportunity to discover the fascinating world of weaving.
