Music Makers: Create, Collaborate, Perform!
Unleash your child’s creativity these school holidays in a unique music-making adventure! In this special collaboration between McClelland and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, young musicians aged 8–14 are invited to join dynamic cellist and educator Richard Vaudrey and MSO musicians for a hands-on, high-energy workshop.
Participants will explore rhythm, melody, improvisation, and ensemble skills through fun, interactive activities using their instruments, voices, and bodies. Working together, they’ll co-create an original piece of music to be performed in a special showing for parents and carers at the end of the session.
Whether your child plays classical, jazz, pop, or is just starting out, this workshop is designed to inspire and include all levels and genres. Don’t miss this chance to make music with the pros!
Duration of Experience:
2.5 hours (10:30am – 1:00pm) including a performance for parents/carers at 12:30pm
Target Age Group:
8 – 14 years
Maximum Attendance:
30 kids capacity, one parent per family.
Booking must book for each child and pay $5 per adult attending
Ticket Price:
$5 per adult, children free
What to Bring / Wear:
- Your instrument (if you have one) your voice is a wonderful instrument too
- Comfortable clothes for movement
- A water bottle
- Your creativity and enthusiasm!

Richard Vaudrey is an internationally acclaimed cellist, composer, and educator known for his dynamic and engaging approach to music. With a career spanning classical, contemporary, and electronic genres, he has performed across the globe and collaborated with leading orchestras, ensembles, and artists. As a passionate educator, Richard brings a wealth of experience in creative music-making, inspiring young musicians to explore their own musical voices through improvisation, storytelling, and collaboration.
